Doris J. Cunningham, 70, of Walkerton, passed away on Monday, May 4, 2015 at IU Health La Porte Hospital.

Doris was born in Michigan City, IN, on September 15, 1944 to Robert B. and Jewell Elizabeth (Moore) Turner.

Doris was married on October 14, 1961 to Donald Cunningham who survives. Also surviving are her beloved children, Lee (Donald) Johnson of Winnebago, IL, Sue (Larry) Apple of La Porte; four grandchildren, Brandon Johnson, Jamie (Zachary) Olson, Rebecca Apple, Brian Apple; sister, Leanita ("Skeeter") Scott; and brother, Robert (Felicia) Sulkowski.

She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Betty Jean Shires.

Doris grew up riding and working in her family business, Michiana Stables, in Michiana Shores. She enjoyed rodeo's, showing horses, tole, and decorative painting. She was an avid golfer and Bingo player. Doris retired from Sullair Corporation in 2000 after 25 years. For over 10 years Doris enjoyed spending the winters in Sebring, FL. Doris was past President of the Fish Lake Conservation Club, past board member of Fish Lake Property Owners Association, member of the L.O.V.E. Club in Fish Lake, and Legacy Hills 18 Hole Golf League.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10 AM Thursday, May 7, 2015 at Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center with Pastor Tim Stewart officiating.

A time of visitation will be held from 5-8 PM on Wednesday, May 6, 2015 and from 9 AM until the time of service at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Swan Lake Memorial Gardens in Michigan City.
