Dorothy "Dot" Verleen Carlson, 90 years old of Walkerton, IN, died 7:15 Wednesday, May 6, 2009 in her home surrounded by her loving family.

She was born November 12, 1918 in Grovertown, Indiana, to the late Ora & Agnes (Wick) Awald.
She was married 67 years to Clarence "Swede" Carlson who preceded her in death Dec. 8, 2005

She graduated from Grovertown High School in 1936, she was a member of Mill Creek Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School for many years, she enjoyed her 63 years as a member of Wills Township Purdue Extension Club. Dot was an avid reader, artist and poet. She enjoyed nature, gardening, flowers, bird watching, playing cards and being with her family,

She was a homemaker and business manager for their family farm. She also co-owned Robin Hood Golf Course in South Bend with her husband.

Surviving are her children; Virginia(Richard) Piotrowicz of North Liberty, Kathleen(Frank)Long of Westville, Christine(Michael)Cruse of Janesville, Wisconsin, Ronald(Marcia)Carlson of La Porte and Rick Carlson of North Liberty. Grandchildren; Roger Scott(April) Piotrowicz, Brian(Terri) Piotrowicz, Mark(Rhonda)Carlson, Michael Carlson, Eric Long, Robin(Roberto)Paz, Julie(Dan)Collins, Kay Piotrowicz, Erin(Dan)Quirk, Karen(Erik)Jedrysek, Lisa Cruse, Debbie(John)Buss, 16 Gt. Grandchildren and 2 Gt. Gt. Grandchildren, Sisters; Vertie(Bob)Pulliam, Audrey Dudeck, Brother; Sydney(MaryAnn)Awald numerous Nieces and Nephews.

She was preceded in death by sisters; Ethel Thornburg, Gladys Large, Irene Singleton and Pauline Martin, brothers; Frederick and Clarence Awald.

Friends will be received at the Cutler Funeral Home from 4-7:00 PM Friday May 8, 2009 and 9:30-10:30 AM Saturday.

Services will be held at Cutler Funeral Home10:30 A.M. Saturday, May 9, 2009 with Rev. Ron Devenport officiating.

Interment will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery.

Contributions may be made to the Mill Creek Baptist Church for Memorial Benches or Hospice of Marshall Co. Indiana.
