Dorothy M. Salzwedel, 92, of La Porte, IN, passed away on Tuesday, August 17, 2010 at La Porte Hospital Continuing Care Center.
Mrs. Salzwedel was born December 25, 1917 in Bass Lake Indiana, to Carl and Alma (Schultz) Raschka. On September 23, 1939, she married Altus (Salty) Salzwedel.
Dorothy is survived by her son, Larry (Karen) of LaPorte; her daughter Jill (Dale) Frye of LaPorte; four grandchildren, Timothy, Allison, and Hillary Frye of LaPorte and Christina (Jeremy) Welches of Trail Creek; two great-grandchildren, Aubrey and Cody Welches.
She was preceded in death by her husband "Salty", one son, Robert, a grandson, Bobby, two brothers, Robert and John Raschka, and her parents.
Dorothy was a homemaker and a member of St. John's Lutheran Church where she was involved with Circle 7, Alter Guild, and the St. John's Thrift Shop. She and her husband were also members of the Over 40's Club.
The funeral service will be 11 A.M., Friday, August 20, 2010 at Cutler Funeral Home with visitation on Friday from 9A.M. until the time of service. Rev. Ron Brauer will be officiating. Burial will follow at Pine Lake Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. John's Lutheran Church.
