Douglas P. Taylor, 73, left this world on September 4, 2022 after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
He was born on September 7, 1948 to Peter "Scotty" and Edith "Peggy" (Murray) Taylor in La Porte, IN. For many years, Doug was the owner and operator of Cloudmaker Glass Studios in Michigan City. He was an incredibly talented artist. His amazing and beautiful stain glass windows and doors can be seen in churches, private homes, colleges, hospitals and restaurants all around the country. He also wrote poetry, was an avid reader, and an activist. Doug was a kind, caring, intelligent man and everyday he tried to make this world a better and happier place. The world has lost a wonderful, loving man who really cared about humankind and the planet. He was truly one of a kind and the world is a little less bright without him in it.
On June 22, 2012 he married the amazing Linda Alsip Taylor who survives. Their love was the kind you only read about in fairytales; it was beautiful to see. He is also survived by his children, Sunny Taylor and Jamie (Connie) Taylor; stepchildren, Amanda (Chadwick) Montgomery and Jeremy Montgomery; grandchildren, Erika (Aris) Oritz and Sonny Taylor; sisters, Linda Francis and Nancy Hunt; mother-in-law, Kazuko Alsip; sister-in-law, Michelle Alsip; nieces, Lorri Francis and Peggy Irvin; nephews, Scott Francis and Geoff (Jackie) Griffith; as well as several great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; father-in-law, Lloyd Alsip; and brothers-in-law, Robert Hunt and DeWayne Francis.
Cremation has taken place with Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center, La Porte. A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will take place at a later date.
