Dr. Kenneth Lansford, 78 years old of La Porte, IN, died Wednesday, November 11, 2009 in La Porte Hospital
He was born Aug. 31, 1931 in Muncie, IN , son of the late Dr. John and Daisy (Payne) Lansford.
He married Sept. 18, 1955 in South Bend to Patricia Whiteman who survives.
Also surviving are two daughters; Gail A. (Jeffrey L.) Johnson of La Porte & Susan K. (Larry) Hackett of La Porte, 4 grandchildren; Aaron(Megan)Johnson, Alexia(Zachary) Baker, Derek(Leah)Johnson & Neil Hackett, 1 Gt. Grandson; Jeffery M. Johnson
He was a 1949 graduate and Valedictorian of Redkey, IN. High School, Graduate of Indiana University and Indiana University Medical School in 1961 he was in the top 2 of his class. He graduated Phi Beta Kappa, was a member of TKE Fraternity, and OB Gyne Fellow. He was a Captain in the US Army stationed at the US Army Hospital at Ft. Rucker in Alabama.
He came to La Porte in 1963 and started his own practice of Obstetrics and Gynecology until retiring in 1998 . He was the only OB Specialist in LaPorte from 1963- 1975. He had literally delivered thousands of babies from Indianapolis, Alabama and LaPorte. He was an avid Cubs, Green Bay Packers, IU and Slicer Baseball fan. He also loved to fish for Muskies up north. He enjoyed reading and was a Civil War History Buff. He was a past member of the Elks and Beechwood Golf Course. He loved his Profession and His family. He was a very dedicated Doctor.
A Memorial Service will be held 11:00 AM Sat., Nov. 14, 2009 at the Cutler Funeral Home with Rev. Steve Laue officiating with visitation one hour before. Military honors will be held following the service.
