Robert Becknell was married on August 6, 1960 in LaPorte to Julie Ann Johnson who survives.
He fought a courageous battle with cancer the past year and he will always be remembered as a kind, loving, and patient Husband, Father, and Grandfather.
Dr. Robert Becknell began his Dental Practice in La Porte on June 20, 1965 at 910 Indiana Ave., and continued until Aug. 30, 2006 at 1702 A Street.
Bob was a graduate on La Porte High School in 1956, Indiana University Dental School in 1963, Member of Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity, Delta Sigma Delta, served from 1963-1965 In the US Navy attached with Second Marine Division at Camp Lejeune, NC. as a Troop Dentist, American, Chicago, Indiana, Northwest Indiana, & La Porte Co. Dental Assoc. & Past Pres. of La Porte Co. Dental Assoc., Past board member of La Porte YMCA where he was instrumental in starting the Maverick Basketball League for boys., First United Methodist Church where he served on the Administration Board, Trustees, Pastor-Parish Chairman & Lay Leader, La Porte Beechwood Golf Course Men's Club
