Ed Smith, 43, of Rolling Prairie, Indiana, passed away at 1:27 a.m. on Thursday, December 14, 2006 at LaPorte
Hospital.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 16, at Cutler Funeral Home with Rev. Hugh Smith officiating. Visitation will be held on Friday from 4:00-8:00 p.m. and on Saturday from noon until the time of the service.
Ed was born July 26, 1952, in Omaha, Nebraska, to Albert & Marjorie (Blankenburg) Smith. On October 10, 1992, in LaPorte, Indiana, he married Shelley Farrington, who survives.
Also surviving are daughters Sansha "Sandy" (John) Sullivan of Joliet, IL and Jennifer Martin of Rolling Prairie, IN; sons Eric Smith and Bret Martin, both of Rolling Prairie; his father of Omaha, NE; brothers Ken (Jonie) Smith, Steve Smith and Daniel Smith, all of Omaha and Jimmy (Tammy) Smith of Tampa, FL; sister Becky (Mark) Wells of Omaha; and numerous nieces and nephews.
His mother, a son, Travis Smith, and a brother, Chuck Smith preceded him in death.
Ed was currently working as a technical service representative for Harper-Love Adhesives. He had worked in the corrugated box industry all of his life.
He had played in numerous fast & slow-pitched softball leagues in the area, being known for his great pitching ability. He also loved to spend time with his wife Shelley, playing golf in the summer.
