Eddie Baud

Eddie Ray Baud, 77, of La Porte, Indiana, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 19, 2025.

Eddie was born on September 20, 1947, in La Porte to Raymond L. and Angeline (Wellinski) Baud.

He is survived by his sister, Rayetta Sandy of La Porte; his brother, Tom (Amy) Baud of Danbury, CT; and his beloved niece, Samantha Baud. Eddie was preceded in death by his parents and his stepmother, Pauline Baud.

A proud graduate of La Porte High School, Class of 1967, Eddie went on to work at Scott Foresman, where he was a dedicated employee until the company's closing in 2001. He then continued his working years at Wal-Mart before retiring in 2009.

In his younger days, Eddie was a proud member of the Maple City Cadets Drum and Bugle Corps. He had a lifelong love of sports and camaraderie, playing softball for Smutzer's, where he also served as the Saturday bartender. He both played for and coached the Scott Foresman men's softball team and took great pride in coaching their women's team as well.

Eddie was an avid fan of Notre Dame athletics and could often be found cheering on the Fighting Irish with enthusiasm and pride.

He will be remembered for his easygoing nature, his commitment to teamwork, and the care he showed to friends and family.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 27, 2025, at Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center.

Family and friends may gather for a time of visitation from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home. Cremation will follow the service. Burial will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, March 28, 2025, at St. Joseph Cemetery, La Porte.
