Edna "Diane" (Ferguson) Childress

Edna "Diane" Childress, 66, passed away on Friday, March 1, 2024 at Franciscan Health-Michigan City.

Diane was born on July 10, 1957, in Peru, IN, to Joe and Sarah Ferguson.

On May 16, 1982, in La Porte, IN, she married Robert Childress, who survives. Also surviving are her 2 children, Keshia Childress and Kevin Childress, both of Rolling Prairie; step-son, Jason Childress of Fort Myers, FL; 2 grandchildren, Landen Carriveau and Payten Bulger, both of Rolling Prairie; as well as many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Sarah Ferguson; son, Keith Childress; brothers, Charlie, James and Roy Ferguson; sister, Betty Christian; father-in-law, Bill Childress; mother-in-law, Margie Childress; brother-in-law, Bill Childress, Jr.; and best friend, Theresa Bernacki.

Diane was a Loan Officer for many years at La Porte Community Federal Credit Union. She loved cooking, watching Food Network, and dragonflies.  Most importantly, Diane loved time spent with and caring for her family.

Cremation has taken place with Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center, La Porte.

A Celebration of Life Memorial Gathering will begin at 5 p.m. on Saturday, March 9, 2024 at Union Mills American Legion Post #295, 710 Water St., Union Mills, and will last until the last guest desires to show their respects.
