Edward Lee Brooks, 71, LaPorte, died at 11:16 a.m. Wednesday (March 19, 2003) at St. Joseph Medical Center, South Bend, of natural causes.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Cutler Funeral Home, LaPorte, with the Rev. Doug Hadley officiating. Cremation will follow the service. Burial will be in Pine Lake Cemetery.
Visitation is from 2 to 7 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
Mr. Brooks was born March 11, 1932, in LaPorte County, to Lawrence E. and Mildred L. (Glancy) Brooks. He married Deloris J. Zollman, who preceded him in death. On July 2, 1972, in LaPorte, he married Jaqueline Replogle, who survives in LaPorte.
Survivors also include one daughter, Linda (Phillip) L. Kmitta, LaPorte; one son, Larry L. Brooks, LaPorte; three grandchildren, Andrew, Anthony and Alaina Kmitta; and one brother, Jack D. Brooks, LaPorte.
Mr. Brooks was employed as a postal clerk with the U.S. Postal Service, retiring on Dec. 1, 1989 after 30 years.
He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served during the Korean War. He was a member of the LaPorte First United Methodist Church and the National Association of Retired Federal Employees LaPorte County Chapter 0575, and the Postal Customer Advisory Council
