Edward Wayne Hartke, age 64, of La Porte, passed away on Thursday, September 10, 2015 in Westville, IN.
Edward was born on July 3, 1951 in Michigan City, Indiana to Edward Lawrence and Shirley Elaine (Manthie) Hartke. On May 28, 1980, he married Janet Czarnomski; she preceded him in death on July 10, 2012.
He is survived by three children, Rebecca (David Thomas) Stevens of Michigan City, IN, Kimberly Hartke of Westville, IN, and Scott (Jessica Eldred) Hartke of La Porte, IN; ten grandchildren; and two sisters, Sharon (Richard) Russ of Mill Creek, IN and Kathy Hartke of Michigan City, IN.
He was preceded by his wife; parents; and a brother, Lawrence Raymond Hartke.
Edward retired from the United States Air Force as a Staff Sergeant and was a member of Evergreen Baptist Church in Michigan City, IN. He was faithfully involved with helping kids in the AWANA Program and also worked for the South Bend Tribune for many years.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Evergreen Baptist Church, Michigan City, IN on Wednesday, September 16th at 10 AM. Pastor Jon Rumley will officiate. Burial will follow at Pine Lake Cemetery where Full Military Honors will be conducted.
A time of visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 15th from 4-8 PM at Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center and from 9 AM until the time of service on Wednesday at the church.
Memorial donations may be made to Evergreen Baptist Church or The AWANA Program at Evergreen Baptist Church, 2005 E. Coolspring Avenue, Michigan City, IN 46360.
