Elizabeth (Garner) Cox Nickell

Elizabeth E. (Garner) Cox Nickell, 96, passed away on Thursday, March 5, 2020 at Memorial Hospital, South Bend, Indiana.

Elizabeth was born on October 15, 1923 in Tennessee, the daughter of Venoy and Amanda (Ramey) Garner.

Elizabeth worked at the Kingsbury Ordinance Plant during WWII.  After WWII, she became an LPN and worked for many years in this field.  During her free time, she loved working in her garden, tending to her flowerbeds.

Elizabeth is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, William and Sherrah Cox of Oakdale, Tennessee; daughter, Kathy Thomas of Okeechobee, Florida; brother, Paul (Lana) Beaver of Culver; sister, Wilma Garner of Knox; 15 grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; as well as numerous great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, William Beaver, Bobby Beaver, and George Garner; sisters, Mildred Garner and Marie Cavinder; sons, Harry and David Cox; and daughter, Patricia Cole.

Cremation has taken place with Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center, La Porte.  A Celebration of Life Service is planned for a later date.
