Elizabeth "Betty" Spencer of LaPorte, (formerly of Lansing, IL), age 93, passed away on Wednesday, October 6, 2010, at the Continuing Care Center of LaPorte Hospital.
She was born on July 18, 1917, in Pinckneyville, Illinois to Frederick Ferdolin Schutte and Louise Marie Lenz Schutte. She married Frederick Albert Spencer on September 24, 1947, who preceded her in death, December 21, 1978. She was a graduate of Brown Business School in St. Louis, MO.
Betty is survived by 2 daughters: Susan (William) Claire Heller of LaPorte, IN, and Carla (Donald) Jean Bellew of Phoenix, AZ, 2 grandchildren: Jeffrey William Heller of Wilmette, IL, and Douglas (Heather) Spencer Heller of LaPorte, IN, several nieces and nephews and many good friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, 7 sisters: Esther Augusta Schutte, Emma Catherine Schutte, Anna Marie (Charlie) Marlow , Alice May (Clyde) Dalton, Lillie Irene (Herb) Krause, Flora Louise Schutte, Irma Pauline (Lindy) Cockrum; a brother, John Henry Schutte, and a niece, Sandy Cockrum.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held 10:00 AM Saturday October 9, 2010 at the Cutler Funeral Home with Rev. Sally Wicks officiating. Visitation will be held from 9AM until time of service. Private Burial for family will take place at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery, in Schererville, IN.
