Elmer Chester "Bo" Sydow, Jr., age 70, of La Porte, passed away on Tuesday, November 11, 2014 at Life Care Center of Michigan City.
Elmer was born in Michigan City, IN, on July 27, 1944 to Elmer Chester and Delores Lena (Schnick) Sydow, Sr.
On August 26, 1986, he married Toni Rae (Melnyk-Marshall) Sydow who preceded him in death in 2005. They shared life together for 28 years. Surviving are his son, Rob (Stacie) Sydow of Midlothlan, VA; daughter, Lore Sydow of Grandview Heights, OH; step-daughters, Christine Marshall of Rolling Prairie, IN, Shellie (Don) Marshall Clemons of Michigan City; step-son, Todd (Charity) Marshall of Michigan City; grandchildren, Andrew Sydow, Elise Sydow, David Sydow, Taylor Whiting, and Japheth Marshall; brother, Gene (Shirley) Sydow of Michigan City; sisters, Patricia (Louis) Jacobucci, Kaye (Garry) England, Shirley Howard, Deborah (Mark) Andresen; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; and nephew, Tim Sydow.
Bo was a member of the VFW, and The American Legion. He was a proud US Marine Veteran, who served honorably in the Vietnam War. He loved flowers and had a large garden. He enjoyed fishing and being outdoors.
Cremation committal has taken place and arrangements have been entrusted to Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center.
