Elsie Fitzpatrick passed away Wednesday, February 4th, 2015 in Tupelo, MS. She was born to William and Marie Fischer on March 28th, 1918 in Albion, NE. She married Charles W. Fitzpatrick on January 25th, 1946. After several years in Council Bluffs, IA, they moved to La Porte, IN in 1952. She lived there until 2009 when she moved to Tupelo, MS to be near her son, Mike, and his family.
In addition to being a homemaker, she was employed at the La Porte County Library until she retired in 1985. She was an active member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church where she participated in Altar Guild, St. Ann's Guild, Bible study, Sunday school and many other church activities. She also volunteered at Meals on Wheels and Bibles for the Blind.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles; brother, Grant Fischer; and sisters, Esther Tisthammer, Erna Battliner, and Iona Fischer.
She is survived by her brother, Bud Fischer; sons, Bill ( Debra ) Fitzpatrick, Mike ( Cathy ) Fitzpatrick, and Pat Dill; four grandchildren, Andrea Ballew, Sean Fitzpatrick, Kaitlin Fitzpatrick, and Andrew Fitzpatrick; and five great-grandchildren, Trevor Ballew, Aurora and Ryley Fitzpatrick, and Trent and Rayeann Reed.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 am Monday, February 9, 2015 at Saint Paul’s Episcopal Church, La Porte, IN. A visitation will be Monday from 10:00 am until the hour of service at the church.
Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center, La Porte, has been entrusted with the arrangements.
