Pat Ford, 93, of LaPorte, Indiana, died at 8:41 a.m. on Tuesday, June 28, 2005 at LaPorte Hospital.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 2, at Cutler Funeral Home with Rev. Doug Ohime officiating. Visitation will be on Friday from 4:00-8:00 p.m.
Pat was born November 22, 1911, in Liverpool, England to John H. & Grace (Vanbrook) Paterson. On November 26, 1949, in Illinois, she married Dr. W. W. Ross, who preceded her in death on December 8, 1955. On April 20, 1968, she married Rev. Donald Ford, who also preceded her in death on September 18, 1969.
Surviving her are sisters Doris Pangburn of Suisun, CA and Marjorie Gentry of Angola, IN; niece Lynda (Terry) Johnston of Newburg, IN; and several great-nieces and nephews.
Pat had worked as a receptionist for an osteopath, as a dental assistant and as a camp counselor in Minnesota. She had retired from the North Shore Country Day School in Winnetka, IL, where she was the administrative assistant for School Transporation.
She was a member of the LaPorte First Baptist Church. She had a passion for golf, belonging to the Beechwood Golf Club since 1952. She holds the title of the oldest golfer to win the LaPorte City Tournament. She won it for the 3rd time in 1983. In 1967 & 1970, she won the statewide OLGA (Old Ladies Golf Association) Tournament. She had also frequently assisted the LaPorte High School Girls' Golf Team. The high school girls' golf tournament was named the Pat Ford Invitational.
