Ernestine F."Ernie" Mumma, 78 years old of La Porte, IN, passed away Tuesday, September 13, 2011 in I.U. LaPorte Hospital.
She was born June 23, 1933 in Danville, IL, daughter of the late Ernest Maury and Florence (King) Ferguson.
She was a member of Countryside Christian Church where she helped serve many meals, volunteered at Handley Grade School for over 12 years, and also at St. Johns Lutheran School, American Red Cross volunteer, and Regency Place Board Member.
She worked as a Secretary for General Telephone for 23 years until retiring. She was and Independent Consultant for Scrapbooking and Rubber Stamping and also taught card making.
She was married on October 13, 1951 in Ft. Wayne, IN. to Robert J. Mumma who preceded her in death July 7, 1994.
Surviving are a son; Randy (Cathy) Mumma of LaPorte; daughter-in-law: Jeni (Walt) Pearson; grandchildren: Scott Mumma, Sarah Mumma, Gregg Mumma, Brad (Rosie) Mumma, Laura (Chris) Dilley, and Mark Mumma; great-grandchildren: Madelyn Mumma, Ava and Logan Dilley; brother: Robert J. Ferguson Sr. of St. Joe, MI; sisters: Elsie Miller of Colorado Springs, CO, Dee Claypool of Tuscan, AZ.
She was preceded in death by a son; Gregg Mumma and her parents.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Saturday, September 17, 2011 at Cutler Funeral Home with Rev. Rick Jones officiating. There will be a time of visitation from 11:00 A.M. until the time of service at Cutler Funeral Home on Saturday. Interment will follow in the Pine Lake Cemetery , LaPorte, IN 46350.
