Eugene D. Larkin, 89-years old of South Bend, IN, passed away Saturday, November 13, 2010 in the Milton Home, South Bend, from complications due to pneumonia.

He was born June 27, 1921 in Wayzata, Minnesota, son of the late John P. and Martha (VandeVere) Larkin.

In 1947 he married his beloved wife Audrey, who remained at his side for 62 years until her death in January 2010.

He was a member of the faculty of the Minneapolis College of Art and Design and later the faculty of the University of Minnesota. He is remembered fondly as an inspirational teacher, colleague and friend. He was the author of “Design: the Search For Unity,” a text on basic design and visual composition. His many friends remember him as an amazing chef, generous host and delightful dinner companion. Above all, he was a lover of art, a passion he shared with his wife and bequeathed to his children.

A private family service was held with the Cutler Funeral Home handling the arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to: The Minneapolis Instute of Art, 2400 Third Avenue South, Minneapolis, Minnesota 55404, Attn: Development Department
