Evelyn Ida Bede, 94, of Michigan City, passed away peacefully at her home on Wednesday, August 30, 2017.
Evelyn was born on July 21, 1923 in Beatrice, NE to Friederick and Ida Maria Wilhelmina (Buss) Niemeier.
On June 14, 1950, she married Robert E. Bede who preceded her in death on September 30, 2013. Surviving are her beloved son, Ronald E. (Sheryl) Bede of La Porte; grandson, Derek E. (Becky) Bede of Chicago, Jason A. Bede of La Porte and Caleb J. Bede of Salt Lake City, UT; brother-in-law, Phil (Mary Ann) Bede; and sister-in-law, Alma Bede of TX.
She was preceded by her parents; husband, Bob; son, Steven Bede; daughter, Mary A. Fanning; siblings, Delbert Niemeier, Laura Niemeier, Luella Paul, Frieda Niemeier, and Erina Othmer.
Evelyn was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church. She was a retired clerk from Carborundum Abrasives Company in Chicago. She enjoyed geography and attending her grandchildren's high school games as well as family and church gatherings.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10 AM (CST) on Saturday, September 9, 2017 at Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center with Pastor Dennis Meyer officiating. Burial will follow at Carmel Cemetery.
A time of visitation will be held from 4 - 8 PM (CST) on Friday, September 8, 2017 and from 9 AM (CST) until the time of the service on Saturday at the funeral home.
