Evelyn Hunhke, 78, of LaPorte, Indiana, died at 1:20 p.m. on Tuesday, June 7, 2005 at Countryside Place Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 11, at Cutler Funeral Home with Rev. Richard Henry officiating. Visitation will be held on Friday from 2:00-8:00 p.m. and Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services. A memorial service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Friday led by the American Legion Auxiliary Unit #83, 8 & 40, and Door Village Lion's Club. Burial will be in Patton Cemetery.

Evelyn was born June 22, 1926 in Winamac, Indiana to William & Gertrude (Wright) Morse. On September 23, 1945, in Knox, IN, she married Clarence I. Huhnke, who preceded her in death on September 13, 2003.

Survivors include daughters Carol (Rodger Dale) LaGard, Sharon Kraus, Roxann Jarboe, Sandra (Mike) Spurr, and Debra (Dan) Orlowski, all of LaPorte; grandchildren Joseph Smith, Thomas & Rodney LaGard, Kristine Kosco, Angela Jarboe, Melissa & Nathan Spurr, and Andrew, Jennifer & Tracey Orlowski; 2 great-grandchildren; 2 step-grandchildren; and sister Midred Kruger of LaPorte.

Her parents, three grandchildren and a son-in-law preceded her in death.

Evelyn had retired from J. C. Penney in LaPorte. She was a member and past treasurer of American Legion Auxiliary Unit #83 of LaPorte, Eight and Forty, Door Village Lion's Club, LaPorte High School Booster Club and had served as past treasurer of the Maple City Cadets.

Memorials may be made to the Door Village Lion's Club or the American Legion Auxiliary Unit #83.
