Evelyn Lawrence Youmans , 95 years old , of West Lafayette, IN and previously of Walkerton, IN, died Tuesday, January 13, 2009 in Lafayette, IN.
She was born in rural Walkerton, IN on April 19, 1913, to the late Brenton and Myrtle (Laflore) Ross.
Evelyn graduated from Tyner, IN High School and attended LaPorte Buiness College.
She was a member of the Walkerton United Methodist Church and the Walkerton United Methodist Church Circle.
She enjoyed music and was a former pianist and choir director for the United Methodist Church of Walkerton, IN, and Floral City, FL. Evelyn wintered in Floral City, FL.
Surviving are one daughter: Constance (Connie) Ikins of Lafayette, IN; one son: Dr. Ross (Sue) Lawrence of LaPorte; six grandchildren: Karen (William) Stollen of Moline, IL; Thomas (Lis) Randall of Indianapolis,IN.; Lisa (Tommy) Logsdon of Noblesville, IN.; Nancy(Phillip)Hunley of Lafayette, IN.; David(Fran)Lawrence of Wheeling, WV; Amy(Jeffrey)Mader of Granger, IN. and twelve great grandchildren.
Evelyn was married on December 24, 1933 to David Lawrence who preceded her in death and then married Edward Youmans on April 12, 1980 who preceded her in death. She is also preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Howard(Mary Roelke)Ross.
Friends will be received at the Walkerton United Methodist Church Saturday, Jan. 17, 2009 from 9:30 AM until the service at 11:00AM(EST) with Pastor Char Harris Allen, officiating. Burial will be at the Woodlawn Cemetery in Walkerton, IN.
