Everett Austin Koomler, 99, of LaPorte, Indiana, died at 1:05 a.m. on Tuesday, February 2, 2005 at LaPorte Hospital
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 3, at Cutler Funeral Home with Rev. Doug Hadley officiating. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 4:00-8:00 p.m. and on Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services. A Masonic Memorial Service will be conducted by the Excelsior Lodge at 6:45 p.m. on Wednesday. Burial will be in Pine Lake Cemetery.
Everett was born July 31, 1905 in Donaldson, Indiana to Charles Edwin and Marie D. (Ernst) Koomler. On September 18, 1929 in the chapel of the LaPorte First United Methodist Church, he married Mildred A. Walker, who preceded him in death on November 24, 1996.
Survivors include niece and special caregiver, Janice Cassidy of LaPorte; several nieces and nephews; grand nieces and nephews, great-grand nieces and nephews and one great-great-grand niece.
Two sisters and a brother preceded him in death.
Everett was retired. He was the owner of the Everett A. Koomler Insurance Agency for 25 years. He was the Mayor of LaPorte from 1956-1964.
He attended LaPorte High School. He was a 70+ member of the LaPorte First United Methodist Church where he had served on both the finance and endowment committees. He was past Master of Excelsior Lodge #41, past high priest of the LaPorte Chapter #15 R.A.M., Illustrious Master of LaPorte Council #32, commander of LaPorte Commandary #12, and honorary member of Priory #8 York Cross of Honor. He was a member of the Michigan City Orak Shrine. He had also served on the LaPorte County Sheriff's Board.
