Floyd Skaggs

Floyd Allen Skaggs, Jr. 68 years old of LaPorte, IN, passed away peacefully at home on May 24, 2012.

He was born October 12, 1943 in LaPorte, IN, son of the late Floyd and Bertha Kraft (Goodson) Skaggs, Sr.

Floyd worked for 33 1/2 years for the US Postal Service as a Postal Clerk. He served in the 113th Engineer Battalion in the US National Guard from 1964-1969. He was a member of Mill Creek Baptist Church and he refereed football Elementary thru High School, refereed basketball Elementary thru Men's Leagues, and Umpired Baseball and Softball Little League thru Adult. Floyd was an avid fisherman in the U.S. and Canada, he traveled to 12 countries and 9 islands.

Surviving are his wife, Darla (Creed) Skaggs; sons, Kevin (Andrea) Skaggs of Napannee, IN., Kenny Skaggs of LaPorte, Kelly Skaggs of LaPorte; grandchildren, Journy Skaggs of Indianapolis, Kolton Skaggs of Napannee, Jarrett Skaggs of Napannee, Tyler Skaggs of LaPorte; sister, Jane Stephani of LaPorte; and several step-brothers and step-sisters.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Howard Griffin, Kenneth Griffin; father-in-law, Warren Creed; and brother-in-law, David Lee.

A time of visitation will be held on Sunday, May 27, 2012 from 2:00 to 6:00 PM at Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Service.

A Celebration of Life Service will take place on Sunday, May 27, 2012 at 6:00 PM at the funeral home with Rev. Ron Devenport.
