Frances E. "Betty" Boyd, age 88, of Union Mills, IN went to be with her Lord and loving husband, Dick, on Friday, February 13, 2015 at 10:06 am. She was at home surrounded by her loving family.
She was born on February 18, 1926 in Elwood, IN daughter of the late George D. and Maude (Humphrey) Hershey. Betty was married on April 10, 1943 to Richard G. "Dick" Boyd; he preceded her in death on January 1, 2012.
She retired from Dr. C. E. Muhleman Office in 1984 after over 30 years of dedicated service. Betty was a longtime area resident and also resided in Florida from 1993-2005.
She was a member of Agape Christian Church in La Porte. In earlier years, she was a member of Wanatah Christian Church. She and her husband served together as youth leaders. Betty enjoyed crocheting, quilting, camping, traveling, and playing games and cards with her family. In her later years, she enjoyed golf cart rides, watching her great-grandkids play sports and the 4-H kids ride horses at her sons clinics. Lastly, she enjoyed making her daily post on Facebook.
She and her husband were foster parents to several children. Betty enjoyed life to the fullest, one thing she looked forward to every year was the Hershey Family Reunion. She loved her Lord and Savior and was a witness of her love for the Lord up until the end of her life.
She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother. Betty is survived by her six children: Karron (Ron) Peterson of Union Mills, IN, John (Linda) Boyd of Westville, Ric (Dana) Boyd of Union Mills, IN, David (Lois) Boyd of Mustang, OK, Melinda (Howard) Barkey of Sulphur, OK, and Cory Boyd of Indianapolis, IN; 15 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Jeanne (Bill) Murray; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, 6 brothers and 4 sisters.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Agape Christian Church on Tuesday, February 17, 2015 at 11 am. Dr. Rodney Nielsen will officiate. A cremation committal will take place and burial will be at a later date in Elwood, IN.
Family and friends will be received from 3-8 pm on Monday, February 16, 2015 at Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center and one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday.
