Francie Tarnow, 68, of LaPorte, Indiana, died at 5:30 a.m. on Saturday, September 24, 2005 at her home.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 28, at Cutler Funeral Home with Deacon Robert Bucheit officiating. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 4:00-8:00 p.m. and on Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be in the Pine Lake Cemetery.
Francie was born June 30, 1937 in Terre Haute, Indiana to the late Delbert & Margaret Mary Wilson. She was raised by her mother and stepfather, Earl B. Hall, who also preceded her in death. On December 20, 1958, in Terre Haute, she married Wayne Tarnow who survives.
Survivors also include son Mark Tarnow of LaPorte; daughters Ann (John) Sheehan of Indianapolis and Amy Tarnow of LaPorte; brother J. Patrick (Patsy) of Chattanooga, TN; sisters Peggy Morris of Zephyrhills, FL and Kathleen (Steve) Blamer of Leesbury VA; granddaughters Abigail Tarnow of LaPorte and Clare Sheehan of Indianapolis; and a host of nieces, nephews, grand nieces & nephews and lots of friends.
Francie was a 1955 graduate of Garfield High School in Terre Haute. She graduated in 1958 from St. Anthony School of Nursing in Terre Haute, earning top honors as the recipient of the Excellence Nursing Award. She served with distinction for thirty years at LaPorte Hospital and became the Nursing Manager of Obstetrics and Pediatrics where she was loved and respected by the staff and patients. She also served the community as a member and former President of the Service League.
