Frank Dean Hutchinson

Frank Dean Hutchinson, 88, of La Porte, IN, passed away on July 29, 2024 at his home, surrounded by his loving family.

Frank was born in La Porte, IN, on January 27, 1936 to Edward and Dorothy (Reed) Hutchinson.

On November 1, 2003 in Michigan City, IN, he married Janet Hutchinson who survives. Also surviving are his children, Dee A. Hutchinson of La Porte, Troy (Lori) Hutchinson of Zeeland, MI, Teri (Randy) Griffin of Michigan City, Connie (Victor) Garrison of La Porte, Julie Berry of La Porte, Joanie Wilhelm of La Porte, Cathie (Michael) Decker of Rolling Prairie, Susie (Mark Houghton) Hamilton of Osceola, and Shellie Williams of La Porte; 19 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; 1 great, great-grandson; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 brothers, Harold and Dan Hutchinson; grandson, Timothy Decker; and great, grandson, Kobie Mussa.

Before his retirement, Frank worked at National Steel as a crane operator. He was a life-long member of the Moose Lodge. In his younger years, Frank enjoyed motocross.

Frank enjoyed traveling, especially as a "snow bird" with his lovie, and dancing. He loved riding his bicycle. At 81 years of age, Frank rode 100 miles in one day! Most days, Frank rode 30 to 50 miles on one of his six bicycles. He and his son, made a tradition of riding every New Years Day.

Most importantly, Frank was a wonderful husband and father. He enjoyed time with his family.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 4 p.m. on Saturday, August 3, 2024 at First Church of God, La Porte with Pastor Jeff Zigler officiating.

A time of visitation will be held from 2 p.m. until the time of the service at the church. Cremation will take place following the service.

Memorial donations may be made to the donor's choice.
