Frederick "Terry" Glassman, 63 years old of Portage, IN, Passed away Monday, June 7, 2010 at home with his loving family at his side.
He was born October 4, 1946 in LaPorte, Indiana , Son of the late Frederick Raymond Glassman and Margaret Pegge (Funk) Schaper.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a stepfather, Elmer Schaper, nephew, Patrick Glassman as well as a great friend and co-worker Daniel Wirth of Portage, IN.
On February 20, 1988, in Portage, IN., he married Kathleen A. (Day) Glassman who survives.
Also surviving are his children, Sam Glassman of LaPorte, Kristina (Scott) Frederick of Ft. Wayne, IN., 3 step-children, Kristin (Michael) Marsh, Erik (Kimberly) Wiseman, Kari (Dustin) Nelson all of Portage, IN., a brother, William (Nora) Glassman of Freeport, IL., a sister Cynthia Rinker of LaPorte, 9 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews as well as his great armchair friend and sidekick Jim (Beth) Franzen of Portage, IN.
Terry worked for American President Lines of Chicago, IL. for 14 years before retiring in 2000. He was a member of the Chicago Piggyback Transportation Group. He was an avid fisherman, golfer, race car fan, as well as enjoying his favorite sports teams including Colorado, Notre Dame, Chicago Cubs, Bulls & Bears.
Friends and Family may visit from 2-6:30 P.M. on Wednesday, June 9, 2010 at Cutler Funeral Home, 2900 Monroe Street, LaPorte, IN. A Celebration of Life Service will be held immediately following the visitation at 6:30 P.M. with Pastor Jay Birky officiating.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial donations be made to the VNA Hospice of Porter County, 2401 Valley Drive., Valparaiso, IN 46383.
