Frederick Carl Wegner, 98 years old of La Porte, IN, passed away Tuesday, May 10, 2011 at his home in La Porte.
He was born February 23, 1913 in La Porte, Indiana, Son of the late Arthur F. and Frances (Zeltner) Wegner.
He was married in 1948 to Helen (Shuth) Wegner who preceded him in death. He then was married on June 28, 1980 at Bethany Lutheran Church to Dorothy (Lindborg)Wegner who preceded him in death on March 4, 2006.
He worked as a Lineman for Allis Chalmers Assemblers in LaPorte. He was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church. He was a Veteran of WWII serving with the 5th Air Corps in South Pacific, New Guinea, Philippne and Liberatior (D2) Okinawa, Tokyo.
Surviving are one son, John F. Wegner of Atlanta, GA and a niece and special care giver, Mary Fridh of La Porte, many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Richard G. Wegner.
There will be a time of visitation from 4:00 to 6:00 P.M. on Sunday, May 15, 2011 at Cutler Funeral Home and on Monday, May 16, 2011 from 10-11 A.M. at the Bethany Lutheran Church, La Porte.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, May 16, 2011 at Bethany Lutheran Church with Rev. Dennis Meyer officiating.
Interment will follow in the Pine Lake Cemetery, La Porte, IN with Full Military Honors.
