Gary William McMahan, 66, of La Porte, passed away on Monday, June 6, 2016 at VNA Hospice Center in Valparaiso, IN.
Gary was born in La Porte, IN, on June 27, 1949 to Bernie Eugene and Barbara (Hollenberg) McMahan.
On November 1, 1969 in La Porte, he married Sigrid "Sig" Pinkepank who survives. Also surviving are his beloved children, Derek (Erica) McMahan of Chesterton and Garett (Melissa Rodriguez) McMahan of Jersey City, NJ; 3 grandchildren, Regan Krachinski, Addison McMahan, and Gunnar McMahan; sisters, Bonnie (Dennis) Timm of La Porte and Cindy Scheidel of La Porte; brother, Patrick McMahan of Lakewood, CO; and 5 nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his step-father, Al Hinton.
Gary attended and graduated from La Porte High School. He also attended and graduated from Ivy Tech Trade School. Gary began his wood pattern making career and received his apprenticeship at Industrial Pattern Works. He worked there for several years while refining his craft. He then became president and owner of M&R Pattern, Inc. where he later retired. Gary loved his family, grandchildren, golfing at Beechwood, and being outdoors. Gary served his country honorably in the US Army with a tour of duty in Vietnam.
A Celebration of Life Service with Full Military Honors will be held at 11:30 AM on Friday, June 10, 2016 at Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center. Cremation will follow the service and burial will take place at a later time in Pine Lake Cemetery.
A time of visitation will be held from 4-8 PM on Thursday, June 9, 2016 and also from 10:30 AM until the time of service on Friday at Cuter Funeral Home and Cremation Center.
