Gerald Hostetler, 92, of Rolling Prairie, Indiana, died at 11:55 p.m. on Monday, August 28, 2006 at Miller's Merry Manor, New Carlisle.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 1, at Cutler Funeral Home with Rev. Howard Simmons and Rev. Ronald Devenport officiating. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 4:00-8:00 p.m. and on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery, Mill Creek.
Gerald was born November 3, 1913, in Wills Township, LaPorte Co., Indiana to the late Gabriel and Maggie (Bunton) Hostetler. On October 16, 1939, in Kewanna, IN he married Doris Ames who preceded him in death August 8, 1967. Then on December 18, 1971, in South Bend, IN he married Mary M. Ames who survives.
Also surviving are daughters Marilyn Hodosi of Greenwood, IN and Judy (Dennis) McIntosh of Sellersburg, IN; sons Norman (Charlotte) Hostetler of Walkerton, IN and Ken (Barbara) Hostetler of Newtown, CT; stepson Joe (Kris) Hostetler of Parker, CO; stepdaughters Mary Jo (Jack) Beck of Benton, IN and Edna Feran of North Charleston, SC; 12 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; 12 step grandchildren; and several step great-grandchildren and step great-great-grandchildren.
Two great-grandsons, four sisters and seven brothers preceded him in death.
Gerald was a self-employed farmer. After retiring from the farm, he worked as a custodial engineer for Austenal, Allis Chalmers and Modine.
He was a member of Sauktown Church of Christ, the Gleaners, and Farm Bureau. He also served on the cemetery boards of the Sauktown and Oak Grove Cemeteries.
