Gerald W. "Jerry" Jacobs, 72 years old of La Porte, IN, died Saturday, June 18, 2011 as a result of a bicycle accident
He was born March 2, 1939 in Chicago, IL. moving to LaPorte in 1942, Son of the late Harry & Helen (Wengiel) Jacobs
He Graduated in 1957 from La Porte High School and finished in 1967 from a Tool & Dye Apprenticeship.
He worked as a Tool, Die and Pattern Maker for over 43 years.
He was dedicated to physical fitness, riding his bicycle and running with his group of friends, he ran the Milwaukee Lake Front Marathon in 1986 and he participitated in 2005 National Senior Olympics, also many other mini marathons & triatholons. He loved to watch his grandsons play baseball and run cross country, and took pride in all his granddaughters accomplishmens. He had a great heart and was kind and considerate to others. He was a true Ironman and was dedicated to fighting Diabetes.

Grandchild; Liam Schneidewind, Sister; Judy Jacobs of South Carolina, Bro; Woodrow (Anna Mae) Jacobs of South Bend, IN.,
He was preceded in death by his parents, Sisters; Mildred Downing, & Kathy Almaguire, his loving companion; Fran Creighton
Graveside Services will be held 11:00 Thursday, June 23, 2011 at Pine Lake Cemetery, with Rev. Merlin L. Bray officiating.
