Gilbert B. Lund, 68 years old of La Porte, IN, died Monday, October 3, 2011 in his home.
He was born May 20, 1943 in Chicago, IL, son of the late Gustav and Margot (Wallin) Lund.
Gilbert was very active in the VFW and American Legion. He was a submariner in the United States Navy. He loved to fish with his friends when he wasn't busy practicing his tinkering, woodworking and carpentry skills.
Gilbert retired from GTE as the Northern Indiana Project Coordinator.
Gilbert was married June 6, 1970 in Chicago to Shirley E. Guest who preceded him in death August 13, 2001.
Surviving are his children, Betheney Lund of Ft. Wayne, IN, Nancy (David) Zack of Holland, MI, Timothy Lund of Winooski, VT; sister, Judy Scobbie of Homer Glen, IL, and four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and brother, Lawrence Lund.
Friends will be received from 9-11 AM Friday, October 7, 2011 at Cutler Funeral Home, LaPorte, IN.
Services will be held at Cutler's, on Friday at 11 AM.
Interment will follow in the Pine Lake Cemetery with full military honors.
