Gloria Deanne (Freese) Applegate

Gloria Deanne Applegate, 85, of La Porte, left this earth to join her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on February 23, 2023 at Brickyard Healthcare - Terrace Care, surrounded by her loving husband and family.

Gloria was born on November 5, 1937 in La Porte, Indiana, to Clifford Raymond and Margaret Lucille (Gallo) Freese.

On December 6, 1980 in La Porte, Indiana, she married Dale V. Applegate D.C., who survives.  Also surviving are her sons, Rudolph R. (Autumn) Gurrola, Jr. of West Palm Beach, Florida and Timothy J. (Michelle) Gurrola D.C. of La Porte, Indiana; stepdaughters, Kari Sculati of Elkhart, Indiana and Kristi Applegate of La Porte, Indiana; 17 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; brother, William R. (Barbara) Freese of La Porte, Indiana; as well as nieces and nephews that she dearly loved!

She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Saundra Ann Dickie; son, Michael Lee Gurrola; and brother, Raymond Allen Freese.

Gloria was a hairdresser/cosmetologist and owner of Gloria's Hair Company.  She was also an ordained minister with an associate's degree from Indiana Christian University.  Gloria was a member of the La Porte Assembly of God, where she led discipleship classes and Gals for Christ.

She will be fondly remembered for leading many people to the saving knowledge of Christ.  There was not a person that she came in contact with that she wouldn't share God's love.

Gloria greatly enjoyed her mission trips to Mexico and Arizona.  She also loved traveling with her husband to Bermuda, Hawaii, Israel, Italy, and especially spending their winters together in Naples, Florida.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, March 2, 2023 at La Porte Assembly of God with Pastor Jeff Hines officiating.  Burial will follow at Pine Lake Cemetery.

A time of visitation will be held from 4 - 7 p.m. on Wednesday, March 1, 2023 at La Porte Assembly of God and from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Thursday at the church.
