Gloria N. Graffis, age 82, of La Porte, passed away on June 30, 2013 at IU Health La Porte Hospital.
She was born in La Porte, IN on July 9, 1930 to Evald and Edith (Anderson) Lindgren.
On December 20, 1952 in La Porte, she married Wayne Graffis who was a teacher at Union Mills and Principal at Kingsbury School. Gloria is survived by her beloved husband, Wayne; her son, Brian (Bonnie) Graffis of La Porte; daughter, Michelle (Greg) Rhoades of South Whitley, IN; 3 grandchildren, Brianna Graffis, Nadia and Luke Rhoades; brother, Ralph (Judy) Lindgren of La Porte; sisters, Annette Hundt of La Porte, Dolores Buss of La Porte; sister-in-law, Barbara Lindgren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Alan Lindgren.
Gloria worked at KOP at the end of WWII. She also was an assistant to Dr. E. Mueller. She had retired from Howmet after 15 years. Her best job was being a homemaker. Gloria was a member of Grace Baptist Church of La Porte her whole life. She served the church as treasurer for many years.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11 AM on Friday, July 5, 2013 at Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center with Dr. Wayne Moore officiating. A time of visitation will be held on Friday from 9:30 AM until the time of the service at the funeral home. Burial will follow the service at Pine Lake Cemetery.
