Gordon Lee Marlow

March 2, 1929 — October 13, 2004

Gordon Lee Marlow, 75, of LaPorte, Indiana, died at 6:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 13, 2004 at LaPorte Hospital.

A funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 16, 2004 at the Bethany Lutheran Church with Rev. Dennis Meyer officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 p.m. on Friday at Cutler Funeral Home. Burial will be in Carmel Cemetery, where the American Flag will be presented by the LaPorte Honor Guard.

Gordon was born March 2, 1929 in Opdyke, Illinois to Clyde Irvin & Pauline (Marsh) Marlow. He married Anneliese Ruth Bätz of Berlin, Germany on March 30, 1954.

Survivors include his wife Ann; daughter Rita Marlow of LaPorte; sons, Homer (Gale) Marlow of Goshen, IN and Glenn Marlow of Russiaville, IN; grandhchildren, Ray & Heather Marlow of Goshen and Sydney & Zoe Marlow of Russiaville; sister Marilyn (Ed) Williams of Mount Vernon, IL; nephews Mike Williams of Miami Beach, FL and John Allen of Chicago, IL; niece Janice Gahagan of Laramie, WY; and sister-in-law Ellen Bätz of Berlin, Germany.

His parents, a sister, Charlotte Allen and an infant son preceded him in death.

Gordon had retired after working for 50 years as a heavy equipment operator through Local 150. He was a US Air Force veteran, serving as an Airman First Class from 1949-1952 during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church. He was a Mason, being a 50 year member of the Jefferson Lodge #368 in Opdyke, IL. He was a member of the Sword of Bunker Hill Grand Order of Illinois, the United States Judo Federation and the Northern Indiana Operating Engineer's Square Club.
