Gordon C. Smyers, 63, of LaPorte, Indiana, died at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 22, 2005 at his home.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 26 at the Cutler Funeral Home with Rev. Jack Cox officiating. Visitation will be Friday from 5:00-8:00 p.m. and Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services.
Gordon was born September 12, 1941, in LaPorte, to Warren Smyers and Charlett (Euler) Smyers Ainsworth. On April 17, 1965, in Michigan City, IN, he married Pauline E. Frame, who survives.
Also surviving are sons, Joseph (Margie) Smyers of Michigan City, IN and James (Linda) Smyers of Culver, IN; daughters Shelley (Ray) Swanson and Tina Smyers, both of LaPorte; grandchildren Todd, Melissa, Chase, Alexander, Nicole Marie, Dustin, Kayla, Nicole Lee, Sharrie and Elizabeth; 3 great-grandchildren; step-sisters Cathy & Bivian; step-brothers Joe & Jerry; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, stepfather, Joseph Ainsworth and stepsister Pat.
Gordon had retired from Aero Metals. He was a member of Faith Baptist Church and he loved fishing, hunting and the outdoors.
Memorials may be given to the American Diabetes Association or to Faith Baptist Church.
