Gordon D. Snyder, Jr. of La Porte, Indiana passed away at 9:22 p.m. September 14, 2014 at the Golden Living (Fountainview) Nursing Home. He was born on April 19, 1939
in Paxton, Indiana (Sullivan County) to Gordon Denzil Snyder, Sr and
Helen Mildred (Smith) Snyder.
On May 31, 1975, he married Susane K. Moore at the First United MethodistChurch in La Porte, Indiana.
He is survived by his loving wife, Sue, four sons: Blaine (Jennifer) Snyder of New Carlisle, Indiana, Dennis Snyder of Bahama, North Carolina, Todd (Yvette) Snyder of New Carlisle, Indiana and Robert Moore of La Porte, Indiana, seven grandchildren Andrew Snyder, Jessica (Eric) Collins, Adam (Jackie) Snyder, Jackie Snyder (Robert Lantero), Ashlan Moore, Lucas Moore and Jacob Moore, two great-grandchildren, Bridgette Snyder (Andrew Snyder) and Liam Lantero (Jackie Snyder and Robert Lantero). One brother, Robert (Zina) Snyder of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, his loving family by marriage: Millie Gillen, Jeanne Galloway, Lester and Patricia Moore, Patricia Maitland, Diane and Don Conrad, Dallis and Becky Moore and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Charles Snyder.
Gordon served in the U.S. Army National Guard and the U.S. Army Reserve with an honorable discharge from both. He retired from Thanhardt-Burger after 45 years. He enjoyed art in general, prints, oil paintings and framing them. He loved his wife, sons, grandchildren and
adored his great-grandchildren. He enjoyed being around people and immensely enjoyed visiting his in-law family and made them his own - routinely stopping in for coffee and a chat.
He enjoyed woodworking projects, construction and crafts. He enjoyed going to the movies, antique shows and out to dine.
He was a member of the Salem Chapel United Methodist Church.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held in Mr. Snyder's honor at 10 AM on Monday September 22, 2014 at Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center. Pastor Robert Raschka will officiate. Burial will take place at Salem Cemetery.
Family and friends will be received from 2-5 PM on Sunday September 21, 2014 at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service on Monday.
