Gregory Green, 47 years old of , LaPorte, IN, passed away unexpectedly of a heart attack on Tuesday, February 7, 2012 at LaPorte Hospital.
He was born on Sunday, February 23, 1964 in South Bend, IN, son of Clarence "Sonny" Green and Joyce (Repak) Wheeler.
Greg had been previously married to Joanna (Jo) Green, his best friend and love of his life, who survives.
Greg lived in LaPorte most of his adult life but grew up in New Braunfels, TX. He had been a Laborer of the Local 81 Laborers Union. He worked in construction. He was a very talented craftsman. He would lend a hand to anyone who needed help. He recently worked at Avenue Bar where he was loved and respected by his many friends, Paul, Mark, Shelly, Jack, Desiree, Brittany and many more. He was a member of PRCU, Harley Owners Group, HOG & former member of Abate.
Greg is survived by his father: Clarence "Sonny" (Sharon) Green of LaPorte; mother: Joyce (Robert) Wheeler of New Braunfels, TX; grandmother: Margaret Repak of LaPorte; son: Justin Green of Hollywood, CA; step-daughters: Melissa (James) Kist of LaPorte, Britne (Jason) Winter of LaPorte; sisters: Bobbi Wheeler of New Braunfels, TX, Jennifer (Ed) Hynek of LaPorte, Gina Collings of Hamlet, IN; brothers: Tom Burger of LaPorte, Duane (Michelle) Burger of North Carolina and significant other: Deb Wilson of LaPorte.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents: Andy Repak, Kenneth & Marguarite Wheeler, Bessie & Bill Pearson, and James & Bernice Burkhart.
Greg was the kind of man that lived life to the fullest. Greg was patriotic and believed in supporting those who served this county. Greg was kind, loving, and always has a smile on his face. He was the kind of man that would give you the shirt off his back if you needed it. He worked very hard and always put pride in everything he did. He loved riding Harley Davidson motorcycles. he loved his boxer Betsy, idealized his grandfather (Andy), he loved ice hockey & was a great pool player. Greg would smile and waive to everyone and always ask, how they were doing today. Greg had many friends and would do anything for anyone and everyone, they were family to him. Greg would hug everyone as a hello and as a goodbye. He was a loving father, husband, son, grandson, brother and uncle. he will be missed by everyone who knew him but he will never be forgotten. A truly great man was taken from us way before his time. We love you Greg.
There will be a Celebration of Life Service at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, February 11, 2012 at Cutler Funeral Home & Cremation Service with Rev. Steve Laue officiating.
There will be a time of visitation from 4:00 to 7:00 PM on Friday, February 10, 2012 at Cutler Funeral Home & Cremation Service.
