Harold Scovel

December 30, 1939 — July 3, 2015

Harold Lloyd Scovel, age 75 of Michigan City, entered eternal life on Friday, July 3, 2015.
A life well lived, by a man well loved - Harold was born in Kendall, Michigan in 1939 to Myrtle (Scovel) Lowry. He moved to Michigan City, Indiana as a child where he met and married Linda Lou Bowman on July 1, 1961. Married for 54 years, Harold & Linda raised their three daughters, Cyndi, Cheryl and Candice in a home filled with love and laughter.
Harold retired from US Steel- Gary Works in 1999 and pursued his hobbies of collecting, model building and bargain hunting. He served the church in various functions throughout his life, completing his service as a Deacon.
During his active years, Harold spent many hours working with children through Boy Scouts, AWANA Youth Ministry and Vacation Bible School. He was the “game master” creating and building many fun activities for children and their families. When he was no longer able to keep up with the children, he turned his attention to the elderly - helping with errands, chores and being company for those alone.
Harold is survived by his wife Linda Scovel; daughter Cyndi Scovel & husband John Gross of Michigan City, IN; daughter Cheryl Hadley & husband Keith Hadley of Eaton Rapids, MI; daughter Candice Nemeth & husband Joe Nemeth of Plainfield, IL; grandchildren Elodie Nemeth, Kyler Hadley, Ciena Hadley, Jason Gross, Michelle Landess, Julia Valdivieso, Tracey Pollock & Brad Gross; great-grandchildren Michael Landess, Leah Pollock, Savannah Pollock, Alyssa Pollock & Annabelle Gross.
Harold is also survived by his four younger siblings; Calvin N. Taylor, David L. Taylor, Duane J. Taylor, Marye (Dixie) Kutch; to whom he will be remembered as caretaker, protector, friend - big brother.
