Haron Woolbright, age 90, of La Porte, passed away on Tuesday, August 12, 2014 at Jesse Brown VA Medical Center in Chicago, IL.
Haron was born in Cookeville, TN, on April 29, 1924 to Orville and Letha (Coomer) Woolbright.
On May 25, 1947, he married Ada Smith who preceded him in death. Surviving are his significant other, Wilma Matayo, of La Porte and his step-children, Connie Page of Little Rock, AK, Joe T. Poston of La Porte, and Kenny Matayo of La Porte; as well as several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; sisters, Irene Bush, Audi Hammonds, Auta Letner, Doris Fields, Nota Woolbright, and Alma Woolbright; brothers, Harley Woolbright, Anthon Woolbright, Samuel Woolbright, Charley Woolbright; and step-children, Ellie Gray, Marie Hogan, and James Douglas Poston.
Haron worked as an assembly foreman and retired from New York Blower. He enjoyed camping and dancing. He proudly served his country during WWII and was a life member of both the D.A.V. and the V.F.W. Post 1130.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 1 PM on Saturday, August 16, 2014 at Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center with Chaplain Larry Pinkerton, Vietnam Vet, officiating.
A time of visitation will be held from 4-7 PM on Friday, August 15, 2014 and one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Salem Heights Cemetery following the service.
