Harriet Ruth Buss, 89 of LaPorte, IN, passed away on Monday, May 21, 2012 at 5:15 A.M. at IU Health LaPorte Hospital.
She was born August 11, 1922 in LaPorte to Harry F. and Elizabeth (Huge) Conrad and lived here all her life.
Harriet was a member of St. Johns Lutheran Church, She was active in Ladies' Aid, Circle 6, Altar Guild, and enjoyed working at the St. John's Thrift Shop.
Harriet also loved playing bridge with friends.
She had worked at Al's Thrifty Mart, J.C. Penny's, Sears, and Long's Dairy.
On March 8, 1947 she married, Lester L. Buss who preceded her in death. She was also preceded by her parents, her sisters Edna Kegebein, and Dorothy Glasgow, and her twin brother Harry Conrad.
She is survived by her sister, Margaret Boardman, Mooresville, NC, her daughter, Karen (Ralph) Masterson, LaPorte, her son, David (Cathy) Buss, LaPorte, four grandchildren, Kimberly (James) Garbison, Krista (Michael) Mastroianna, Crystal Lake, IL, David Buss, LaPorte, and Cody (Amy) Buss, LaPorte, three great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
A time of visitation will be held on Thursday, May 24, 2012 from 9:00-11:00 AM at Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Service.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, following the visitation at the funeral home with Rev. Aaron Kretzschmar officiating. Interment will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery.
