Harriet Sweitzer

September 2, 1919 — February 23, 2005

Harriet Elizabeth Sweiter, 85, of LaPorte, Indiana, died at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, February 23, 2005 at Rosewood Care Center in Iverness, Illinois.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 26, 2005 at The Presbyterian Church in LaPorte. Visitation will be held at the church on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services. Burial will be in the Patton Cemetery.

Harriet was born September 2, 1919, in LaPorte, IN to Bengt August and Charlotte (Johannson) Swanson. On January 11, 1941, in LaPorte, she married William Edward Sweitzer, who preceded her in death April 20, 1984.

Survivors include daughters Sally (Thomas) Hilgendorf of Palantine, IL and Martha Fields of Alton, IL; son Jon (Vema) Sweitzer of Greenwood, IN; 6 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; and sister Jane Carpenter of LaPorte.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Helen Koenig and brothers Paul and Louis Swanson.

Harriet had worked at LaPorte Credit Bureau, retiring in 1984, where she received the Gemini Award for a superior contribution to the Credit Bureau. She was a member of The Presbyterian Church of LaPorte.
