James (Jim) Harris, 94 years old of La Porte, IN, died Wednesday, March 18, 2009 in Alton Memorial Hospital, Alton, Illinois
He was born Sunday, March 22, 1914 in LaPorte, IN , son of the late Alvin J. Harris and the late Frances E. (Byerly).
He married Dorothy M. Wyczawski in Roseland, IN on August 22, 1936 who preceded him in death Feb. 1, 1999.
He was a member of LaPorte Kiwanis Club, the LaPorte Elks, he was a former Boy Scout Commissioner, volunteer at LaPorte Hospital, and had many other activities.
He worked for Larson Danielson Construction Company for 44 years prior to retirement.
Surviving are daughter: Marti (Dr. William) Goebel of Godfrey, IL, son: Dr. David (Jean) Harris of Lakeville, IN, 7 Grandchildren: Dr. Cathy (John) Forkner, Dr. David (Wendy) Harris Jr., Pamela Harris, Becky Harris, Beth (Robert) Balice, Thomas (Se-Se) Goebel, and Jason (Danielle) Goebel, 12 great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 63 years, 2 brothers: Robert and William, and 2 great-grand daughters.
Friends will be received Sunday, March 22, 2009 from 2-5 P.M. at the at the Cutler Funeral Home, LaPorte, IN.
Services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Monday, March 23, 2009 at with Rev. Ian Williams officiating. Interment will follow in the Pine Lake Cemetery.
