Harry F. Bud Conrad

Harry F. Bud Conrad, 81, Mill Creek, died of natural causes at 1:15 a.m. Thursday (March 25, 2004) at his home.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Cutler Funeral Home, LaPorte, with the Rev. James Beversdorf and the Rev. Ron Devenport officiating. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery, Mill Creek, with full military rites.

Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home.

He was born Aug. 11, 1922, in LaPorte to Harry and Elizabeth (Huge) Conrad. On Jan. 26, 1946, in LaPorte, he married Margaret DePoy, who survives.

Survivors also include one daughter, Mary Beth Wells, Meridian, Idaho; two sons, Randall J. (Diane) Conrad, Mill Creek, and Daniel L. Conrad, LaPorte; his twin sister, Harriet R. Buss, LaPorte; sister Margaret (Robert) Boardman, LaPorte; and four grandchildren, Chad, Todd, Adam and Jennifer Conrad.

Also preceding Mr. Conrad in death were one daughter, Sandra Lynn Conrad; one grandson, Jason Conrad; and two sisters, Edna Kegebein and Dorothy Glasgow.

Mr. Conrad retired after 57 years as a self-employed farmer. He was past president and member of the Oak Grove Cemetery Association.

He was a member of the American Legion Post 400 of Fish Lake and was a member of the Draft Horse Association. Mr. Conrad served as sergeant in the U.S. First Marine Division during World War II and was stationed in the South Pacific. He received a Purple Heart. Mr. Conrad as a member of St. John's Lutheran Church.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. John's Lutheran Church Heating and Cooling Fund or to the Bethesda Lutheran Home.
