Helen Bradley (Wilcox) passed away in La Porte on August 18, 2023.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Dr. Robert F. Wilcox and A. Leone Wilcox (nee Rommel), and her husband of 62 years, John H. Bradley. Helen is survived by two sons, Frederick W. Bradley (Kim) of Lafayette, IN and Christopher H. Bradley (Jane) of Fishers, IN; grandchildren, Jennifer C. Bradley (Keith Hersh) of New Albany, IN, Elizabeth A. Bradley of Chicago, IL, Alicia Bergery of Lafayette, IN, and Marisa Sherrill of Farmington, MO; and four great-grandchildren, Rose (Alicia), Gavin, Addison, and Hunter (Marisa).
Helen was a lifelong resident of La Porte. She was a member of St Paul's Episcopal Church.
A 1947 graduate of La Porte High School, she later graduated from Carleton College in Northfield, MN in 1951. Her first teaching job was at Francis Parker School in Chicago, IL.
On August 7, 1954, she married John H. Bradley, also a lifelong resident of La Porte, IN.
Her teaching career continued at La Porte Community Schools at Park Elementary and then at St. Joseph Catholic School. Helen finished her working career at La Porte County Public Library in the catalog department.
She and John enjoyed traveling, opera, poetry, reading, and playing bridge with friends. Helen was a member of La Porte's Service League.
A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at 1 p.m., on Friday, September 8, 2023, at St. Paul's Episcopal Church with Rev. Canon Michelle I. Walker officiating. Burial will follow at Pine Lake Cemetery.
A time of visitation will be held from 12 p.m. until the time of the service on Friday at the church.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Paul Episcopal Church, 1000 Michigan Ave., La Porte, IN 46350 or to the Salvation Army of LaPorte, 3240 Monroe St., La Porte, IN 46350.
