Helen B. Funk , 87 years old of La Porte, IN, died Tuesday, February 24, 2009 in Golden Living Center Fountainview.
She was born January 6, 1922 in LaPorte, Indiana, Daughter of the late Vincent A. and Helen (Wade) Kanney.
She was married on June 30, 1946 in LaPorte, IN to Russell E, Funk who preceded her in death on November 13, 1986.
She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, RN Club, and Delta Theta Tau. She graduated from LaPorte High School and St. Margarets School of Nursing in Hammond, IN. Helen had been a nurse for Allis Chalmers, Private Duty Nursing, Holy Family Hospital, American Home Foods, and the LaPorte County Health Department.
Surviving are Son, Jim R. Funk of LaPorte , IN , Daughter, Beth Funk; 2 brothers: Vincent R. (Kate) & Wade E. Kanney, both of LaPorte,IN; Several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband and brother: Jack Kanney.
Services will be held at 1 P.M. Thursday, February 26, 2009 at Cutler Funeral Home with Rev. Ted Nordquist officiating.
Visitation will be Wednesday from 4-7 P.M. and Thursday 11 A.M. until the time of service at the Cutler Funeral Home.
Interment will follow in the Pine Lake Cemetery.
