Helen Sauriol , 95 years old of La Porte, IN, died Sunday, August 9, 2009 in Golden Living Center Fountainview.
She was born November 12, 1913 in Chicago, IL., Daughter of the late Walter and Lucielle (Alexna) Merkelis.
She had worked until the age of 70 as an Insurance Adjuster for United Insurance Company. During WWII she worked with the Red Cross. She was a member of the Moose, and the Young Democrats Club.
Surviving are daughter, Janet (Michael) Taggart of LaPorte, son, Robert (Nadia) Appel of Glenview, IL, sister, Palmrya Nichols of Chicago Ridge, IL., 9 grandchildren, Lisa (Michael) Murphy, Chuck (Cheryl) Schoper, Scott (Collette) Schoper, Theresa (Juan) Casillas, Christina (Jeremy Korem) Robinson, Sara (Danny Perez) Robinson, Brenden (Doris) Appel, Brian (Tami) Appel & Danielle (Jimmy) Washer, 11 great grandchildren, Christopher, Matt and Angie Murphy, Ed, Michael (Angela)and Thomas (Natalie) Murphy, Madeline & Victoria Appel, Jasmyn & Nicholas Casillas, Brooklyn Korem, two great great grandchildren, Madelynn and Hollis Murphy.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and three husbands, George Appel, Garrett Elzinga and Walter Sauriol .
Friends will be received at Cutler Funeral Home on Wednesday, August 12, 2009 from 4-8 P.M.
Services will be held at Chapel Hill Gardens South in Oak Lawn, IL.,on Thursday, August 13, 2009 at 11 A.M.
Interment will follow in the Chapel Hill Gardens South in Oak Lawn, IL.
