Helen L. Steen 85, of LaPorte, IN died at 2:35 PM, November 1, 2008 at Golden Living Center Fountainview in LaPorte, IN. She was born May 13, 1923 in Sioux City, Iowa to the late Adolph E. and Clara Sandwick Noreen. On March 8, 1952 in Souix City, Iowa, she married Russell W. Steen, Sr., who passed away on March 28, 1974.
She is survived by her children: Judy Kray of LaPorte, IN; Deborah Steen of Mesa, AZ; Robert Steen of Tucson, AZ; Russ Steen, Jr. of LaPorte, IN; 4 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren; 1 Brother, Courtney Noreen of Ft. Dodge, IA.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son: Douglas Steen; daughter: Patricia Steen; 2 sisters: Grace Towns and Helen’s twin sister, Delores Hodgins; 3 brothers, Lawrence, Gerald and Raymond Noreen.
Helen graduated Central High School in Sioux City, IA in 1943. She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church of LaPorte, IN. She had worked for 7 years at First Universal Travel and 12 years with First National Bank.
There will be a Celebration of Life Service at 10 AM Wednesday, November 5, 2008 at the Cutler Funeral Home with Rev. Ronald Brauer officiating. There will be a time of visitation on Tuesday from 4-6 PM and Wednesday from 9AM until the time of service at the Funeral Home. Burial will be in Pine Lake Cemetery.
