Henry G. Bud Birkholz II, 92, of Valparaiso and formerly of Springfield Township in LaPorte, Indiana, died at 2:15 p.m. on Wednesday, November 24, 2004 at the Whispering Pines Health Care Center in Valparaiso, Indiana.
A private family service was held on Saturday, November 27, 2004 at the Cutler Funeral Home with Rev. Louis Schumm officiating. Burial was in the Heckman Cemetery.
Bud was born February 3, 1912, in LaPorte County to Henry G. & Pearl (Brodigan) Birkholz I. On April 27, 1931, he married Gertrude Mae Snyder, who preceded him in death on June 1, 1992.
Survivors include son Henry Hank (Sue) Birkholz of LaPorte; daughters Peggy (Charles) Droege of LaPorte and Marilyn (Thomas) Boyd of New Buffalo, MI; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; sister Gloria Parsons of Crumpler, NC; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a son, Robert E. Birkholz, who was killed in Vietnam, 3 sisters, Lenora Ottinger, Katherine Scott and Leona Wendt and an infant brother.
Bud was the owner of the Blue Spruce Tree Farm on US #20 in LaPorte County. He was also a member of Excelsior Lodge #41 F & AM.
