Henry J. De Koyer

La PORTE — Henry J.” Hank” De Koyer, 85, of LaPorte, IN died on Saturday, Nov. 22, 2008 at LaPorte Hospital.
He was born June 24, 1923, in Passaic,N.J. to the late Jacob and Minnie(Zoon) De Koyer. On Sept. 1, 1949, in West Lafayette,IN he married Charlotte Graver who preceded him in death on February 9, 2000.
He is survived by his children: Dtr: Margaret(Otis)Watson-Port Huron, MI., Son: Jacob(Susan)De Koyer-Batavia, ILL., Dtr: Deborah(George)Mears-Delphi,IN. seven grandchildren: Joshua & Elizabeth De Koyer, Heather Bartelt, Sarah Stewart, Keith, Ann, & Grace Mears; eight great- grandchildren; one sister: Kay Cullen- Richmond, Virginia; and a special friend: Betty Dmitras.
He was preceded in death by 1 grandson: Aaron Jacob De Koyer, 1 brother and 2 sisters.
Henry graduated from Purdue University in 1949 in Engineering. He was a life member of the VFW and the American Legion. He served in the US Navy from 1941-1945 during WWII as a Quartermaster 1st Class, he served on the LaPorte Honor Guard for many years.
He worked at Austenal/Howmet for over 30 years as an engineer.
There will be a Celebration of Life Memorial Service at 11 A.M. Saturday, Nov. 29, 2008 at the Cutler Funeral Home with the Rev. Kaaren Nesmith officiating. There will be a time of visitation from 10:30A.M. until the time of service with the family on Saturday. There will be Military Honors conducted at the Funeral Home. Private burial will take place at a later time.
